Gull Island (Tasmania)

Gull Island is a granite island, with an area of 8.5 ha, in south-eastern Australia. It is part of Tasmania’s Passage Island Group, lying in eastern Bass Strait south of Cape Barren Island in the Furneaux Group. It is a conservation reserve.〔 With Forsyth and Passage Islands it forms part of the Forsyth, Passage and Gull Islands Important Bird Area (IBA), identified as such by BirdLife International because it supports over 1% of the world populations of little penguins and black-faced cormorants.
==Fauna==
Recorded breeding seabird and wader species include little penguin, short-tailed shearwater, white-faced storm-petrel, Pacific gull, silver gull, sooty oystercatcher and crested tern.〔Brothers, Nigel; Pemberton, David; Pryor, Helen; & Halley, Vanessa. (2001). ''Tasmania’s Offshore Islands: seabirds and other natural features''. Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery: Hobart. ISBN 0-7246-4816-X〕
